BILL HOLDEN
Today it’s the turn of Mr. Great Harwood Town, Bill Holden, without whom, this town would probably be without a football club.
The amount of work that Bill does for the club is incalculable and just a few of them include groundsman, cleaner, builder, general repairs, diplomat, barman, accountant, commercial manager, phew! The list just goes on and on.
Bill took over the Chairmanship about ten years ago on a temporary basis, just until a new man could be found! The best thing that has come out of his ‘reign’ is that he has met so many god people and made many new friends on the ‘non-league’ circuit. On the playing side, the highlight was this season’s F.A. Cup run, where we played some tremendous football and also made some money which was vital for the football club to continue to play at this level. The low point was relegation from the Unibond League on the infamous last Saturday of the season at Congleton, a game which has been well chronicled in this season’s programmes.
Bill’s favourite other team is Accrington Stanley, who have helped not only us, but other local clubs over the past few years and are a credit to the game. Favourite ground is Ewood Park and his favourite player is Ian Proctor.
Bill is separated from his wife but has three children, Mark, Julie and Alison, who is married to club secretary Mark Jones.
He may be getting on a bit but there’s still life in the old dog yet and he’s currently on the look out for a good woman, in fact he’s placed a message in the lonely hearts section of this web-site.
Thank you Bill Holden from all Great Harwood Town fans for the amazing amount of work which you put into this club.
Stand up and take a bow,
Bill Holden
SUPER CHAIRMAN!

LONELY HEARTS COLUMN
This week we’ve had a heart warming letter from ‘William’ of Great Harwood, and it goes something like this:
Ex-Hollywood actor, star of dozens of films, many of them set in the Far-East, now head of a large Footballing Empire, and a thriving building firm, wishes to meet nice lady for friendship and possibly more. Own home, good sense of humour, non-smoker, this man would be a tremendous catch for any woman. Due to the enormous number of hours spent running his businesses, the lady would need to be patient and understanding. She would also have to be rich, beautiful, widowed and interested in football and drinking.
All interested parties should reply to the web-site editor who will first ‘vet’ them before passing on all worthy applications.
