Introducing
David Anwar
13-12-03
Nineteen year old David is in his second year with the Robins and although he hasn’t yet become a regular in the starting eleven, he is almost always in the starting fifteen. If he continues to show the skill and dedication which we’ve seen so far, then a regular spot in the opening line-up is surely not far away.
Today’s man of the moment lives in Great Harwood with his mum, Catherine Zeta-Jones, oops, sorry I mean Bev-I often get those two mixed up-dad Naz, who is often mistaken for Omar Sharif, and brothers Mick and Gaz, who although are very good looking, are not as good looking as David!
His favourite ‘other club’ is Manchester United, so the recent Sportsman’s Dinner with Alex Stepney was a real treat for him. Favourite player is Roy Keane who, if he continues to improve his game, may one day, be good enough to play for Great Harwood Town…...Reserves! The best ground that David has played on is the J.J.B. Stadium at Wigan.
The low point of his career so far was at the start of the season in the derby game against Accrington Stanley, when his miss in the penalty shoot-out proved to be decisive. The fact that it hurt so much is proof of his dedication to the cause and one of the reasons that he is destined to be a force at this level.
Unlike most of the players, who list socialising (boozing) as one of their ‘likes’, David likes to spend his spare time watching T.V. Dislikes are listed as……work! Hope your boss isn’t reading this Dave!
All the best for the rest of the season and good luck in the future, today’s top man………
