Introducing
DAVID ASHCROFT
09-08-04
Today’s featured celebrity, who, although is one of our newest supporters, is one of our best and can often be found at both home and away fixtures.. Not only that, he’s also featured regularly in the away day Robins stories and has his own column in the matchday programme-‘Big Dave’s Quest’.
36 year-old Dave has been supporting the Robins for between two and three years and in that time has travelled throughout the North West to over 20 different grounds. He doesn’t have a particularly favourite spot on the ground and likes to watch the game from different positions.
He lives with his parents Sheila and Brian in the Ewood area of the Blackburn which is very handy as his favourite club is Blackburn Rovers and Ewood Park is Dave’s favourite ground-the Showground coming a close second! His favourite current player is John Eastham who Dave hopes will re-capture that made him top scorer the season before last. Dave is convinced that if Eastie had played for the whole of last season, then the Robins would have given Champions Colne a good run for their money. Favourite former players include Sean Bursnell and Matt Derbyshire. The most enjoyable thing about watching Harwood is the travelling to all the different grounds where he can indulge in his pastimes of drinking alcohol and socialising.
His worst moments watching the team include when he witnessed a 6-0 hammering at Glossop North End a couple of years ago, and cheeky kids (stand up and take a bow Billy the Kid and Jimmy Mad-Dog Hughes!)
As well as football, Dave is also very keen on cricket and is a member of Feniscowles Cricket Club where he plays and umpires, and he’s also a member of a darts team.
Let’s hear it for today’s star supporter…….
Dave Ashcroft !
