Introducing
Roger Barker
08-09-03
Roger, like Peter Shackleton is one of that select club who list Great Harwood Town as their number one team. 55 year-old Roger has been supporting the Reds for a magnificent 45 years and is to be found on the Pop-Side (Scratin Shed) at almost every home game. He lives in Altham with his lovely, understanding, ‘grass widow’ wife and has three children.
Roger’s favourite player is Chris Heslop who had really become a firm favourite with the Robins fans, and his favourite former players are John Kenyon and Paul Baker. After Harwood, Liverpool is the team that he likes to keep track of.
Best moments in his football ‘career’ were the magnificent ATS Trophy win against Southport at Burnden Park, and the memorable FA Cup 1st round game against Rotherham in the early ‘70’s. The worst moment was when the original Great Harwood folded after Derek Keighley left for the Rovers a few years later.
Outside of football, Roger’s only hobby is listed as ‘drinking’ but other interests include going out with family and friends and watching attacking football. He particularly dislikes arrogant and loud people and midfield players camping out in their own halves-SO GET UP SHARPLES AND Co.!
Congratulations on your superb milestone of 45 years watching Harwood and keep up the good work. People like you are priceless to the football club and your continued support is vital for the future of Great Harwood Town.
