DENNIS HILL

Thirty one year-old Dennis joined the Robins in the summer from neighbours Darwen after ex-boss John Hughes had spent two years in pursuit of his man. No sooner had Dennis signed on the dotted line, than Hughesy left to take up the vacant post at Chorley. Thankfully for all at the Showground, Harwood’s newest star decided to stay here instead of heading off to Victory Park.
His outstanding pre-season performances have showed exactly why he was such a wanted man. Harwood have needed a midfielder who can ‘put his foot on the ball’ for a couple of years now, and Dennis should give us that calming influence in the middle of the park.
At Darwen in particular, he scored many times and is a fifteen goal-a-season player.
Weighing in at 11 ½ stones and 6 feet tall, Dennis ahs had numerous employers, Burley, Torquay United, Lancaster City, Clitheroe, Bamber Bridge, Rossendale United and Darwen.
He lives in Salmesbury with his gorgeous wife Sonia and equally lovely children Britney and Thomas. He works as a postman at Blackburn and is so well in with the managers there, he’s rarely put on anything more than a ‘Cadet Walk’, enabling him to preserve his energy for match days!
His greatest moment in the game came in 1996 when he was part of the Clitheroe team which reached Wembley in the FA Vase. Not surprisingly, the worst moment was when the Blues lost 3-0 to Brigg Town in that game. Wembley is obviously the best ground that he’s played on.
Favourite other team is Blackburn rovers and his top player is Patrick Vierra, with ‘Gazza’ his top former player. Outside of football he particularly enjoys watching cricket and snooker.
Dennis has only listed one thing that he dislikes-WORK! Being a colleague of his, I can certainly vouch for that! Another thing that today’s man of the moment dislikes immensely is making tea for the Royal mail ‘brew club’. He normally makes it really horrible in the hope that we won’t ask him again-Nice try Dennis, today’s………
