Introducing
HARRY MITCHELL
07-10-02
Today it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you Harry Mitchell, who is arguably Great Harwood Town’s greatest supporter.
Harry lives in the town with his lovely wife Eileen and son John, who at 26, really ought to clear off and find a place of his own and give his parents a rest. Harry also has a daughter, Julie, as I’m sure that many of you know, is married to our captain Neil Kennedy.
Apart from watching the Robins, Harry’s other hobby is fly fishing for trout, although with the amount of time he spends running his business (Great Harwood Electrical) and helping out at the Football Club, his fishing trips are few and far between. The Harwood stalwart can often be found at the Showground painting, cleaning and fixing the electrics and is often grabbed from the terracing to sort out an electrical type problem somewhere on the ground.
Harry’s most memorable game is the ATS Trophy Final at Burnden Park when Southport were humiliated by the Robins a few years ago. His favourite all time players are John Kenyon and Peter Smith. Although he has no particular favourite ground, Harrogate Town is one of the ones he remembers with affection as we have a good record there and it is always tidy and looking in tip top condition. (Harrogate obviously doesn’t have as much trouble with vandalism as we do).
Harry hopes that we can make an immediate return to the 1st Division this season but as long as we can play some good football, as we are doing so far, then he’ll be happy.
Thank you for your support…………
Harry Mitchell
