Introducing
James Dean
(26-01-04)
Eighteen year-old James stands 6’ 2” and weighs in at 13 stones and is in his first season at the Showground. Signed as a defender, ‘Deano’ was thrust into the attack at the end of last season due to a striker crisis and showed that he was quick to adapt to a new role-just as well, for this season he’s made most of his appearances in midfield. Brilliant in the air and skilful on the ground, James has become a firm favourite with the ‘Pop-side’ and since his first appearance in the starting eleven, the team has moved onwards and upwards.
Deano lives in Accrington with his gorgeous mum Maggie, handsome dad Duncan, and scrumptious sisters Amanda and Amelia. Eric Morley tried for years to assemble this much beauty in the same place at the same time!!
The best moment in his short career was when he scored the winner in a cup final and the favourite ground that he’s played on is Accrington Stanley. Current top player is Luis Figo and Ginola is James’ favourite former star. His ‘other’ club is Burnley but we’re prepared to overlook that seeing as he’s such a good player!
His ‘likes’ are football, and………..football although hobbies outside of football are listed as…….girls, with smoking his one dislike.
Deano’s emergence as a regular first teamer co-incided with our surge p the table last season and our continued progress this term, so keep up the good work. If this season’s quality performances are anything to go by, then James is destined for higher things. He is, without doubt, one of the best young players to represent the Robins in recent seasons so let’s hope that he’ll be here for a little while longer.
Today’s player of the week
James Dean
Footnote: James’ last two goals for the Robins came in the 3-3 FA Cup replay against Guisborough in August 2005. He went on to play in the Conference for Northwich Victoria, in the Football League with Bury, and is currently playing back in non-league’s top flight with Altrincham.
