Introducing
Jim Hesketh
(01-11-03)
Fifty-six year old Jim has been supporting the Robins for over 10 years now and is very excited about what’s going on at the Showground at the moment. Although he lives in Lower Darwen, he very rarely misses a match here and can be seen at many of our away games too.
Jim can be found on the Pop-Side cheering his favourites on with his good buddy, Curly Jim, and there’ve been occasions in the past when the kick-off has been delayed because the lads have not quite made it on time. His favourite player at the moment is captain Ryan Parr, who Jim would like to see playing here for many years to come. David Sharples is his favourite former player, although I think that Dave might have something to say about the ‘former’ bit! As well as Harwood, Jim supports the Rovers but rarely gets to see them in action because of his devotion to the Robins. His most memorable moment watching football was when the Rovers won the Premier League, and his worst memories are of Harwood playing under Dennis Underwood.
Outside of the ‘beautiful game’ Jim enjoys fishing and other outdoor activities. Dislikes include T.V. soap operas, Sandra’s salmon and cucumber sandwiches, and Eileen’s thick blue knickers, although how he knows about them, I didn’t ask!
Over the last ten years Jim has seen some pretty awful seasons, particularly the last four or five before John Hughes took over, but now he really looks forward to games knowing that we have a squad of players who are giving everything to the cause.
JIM HESKETH, today you are Great Harwood Town’s…………..
Superfan!
