Introducing
LIAM DENNING
26-12-02
Today it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you Liam Denning, one of the finest players to don the red shirt of Great Harwood Town in recent years. For any youngsters watching the game and hoping to make a career out of professional football, then just watch this lad and see how good you have to be just to get to this level, and weep!
Liam has got the lot, good right, good left, great in the tackle, the stamina of a Kenyan long distance runner, the determination of Billy Bremner and the best crosser of a ball seen in these parts since Alan Shearer. The trouble with having a player as good as Liam is that you know he’s not going to spend the rest of his career at this club. His vital statistics are: Age-21 (just), Weight-10st. 7lbs., Height-5’ 6”. Previous clubs include Rossendale United, Accrington Stanley, Morecambe and Bury. Liam’s preferred position is a free role in midfield although this season has seen him playing in the centre of midfield and more recently out wide on the right. He lives with his parents in Blackburn and he likes to spend his spare time either at the gym or more importantly with his beautiful girlfriend Chelsea.
Liam’s biggest fans are without doubt his Mum and Dad, Ann and Steve, who never miss a game and are a welcome sight at every Harwood match. If only we had more families like the Dennings at the club, who knows where we might be.
His best moments in football so far were when he was chosen for the Great Britain College squad and when he was part of the Kings Inn team that won the ‘double double’ in the Blackburn Sunday League.
For the sake of great Harwood Town Football Club, lets’ hope that Liam Denning continues to ply his trade here for many years to come, but for his sake let’s hope that he manages to climb the ladder to bigger and better things.
STAND UP AND TAKE A BOW….
