Introducing
Mark Jones -secretary
19-08-03
Mark has been the secretary at the Showground for three years although he’s been helping the club in various capacities for many years more. He’s married to Alison, and has a four year-old son called Sam who is found watching Harwood, both home and away on most Saturdays throughout the season, and must be the only supporter with a replica kit!
Mark works as a retail manager for Gaskell and in the limited spare time that he has, loves to play golf and also enjoys watching rugby league. He would like to have played football at a half decent level but by his own admission, was never fit enough after leaving school.
During his time at the club, Mark’s most memorable game was the fantastic 3-2 win at Morecambe in the ATS Trophy. I’m sure that many Robins' fans here today will have been to the game, which took place in torrential rain and was won in extra time by the ten men of Harwood. We even had fans singing! It felt more like a home game.
Morecambe is the best non league ground which Mark has visited. His al time favourite Harwood player is Pete Smith.
When asked what would be the highest level of football in which Harwood could compete, Mark felt that to achieve status in the Unibond Premier League would be something to aim for.
