Introducing

Martin Howard

(match day sponsor v Ashton Town 11-10-03)

Great Harwood Town Football Club wish to convey their sincere thanks to today’s matchday sponsor, Martin Howard. We’re proud to have you as a supporter Martin, enjoy your day and we hope to see you here at the Showground for many years to come.
Martin has lived in Harwood since 1962 and he thinks that he may get to like it here. Despite his youthful looks, not to mention his fantastic generosity, Martin has a 28 year-old son, Wayne, and says that he’s even a Grandad, which I don’t believe for one minute-at the last game he was mistaken for a player!
His first love is Blackburn Rovers but he attends most of Harwood’s home games, and many away games when the Rovers aren’t playing, and when his shift work allows. He can be found standing at the Sportsmans End and his favourite current player is Matt Derbyshire. The highlight of his time watching the Reds was the unforgettable night at Burnden Park in the A.T.S. Trophy when we defeated Southport. His worst moments were the relegations suffered by the side in recent years. Pete Smith is his favourite former red, and he’s delighted to see Smithy back here, even if it is only for the occasional night match. After the Showground, the best non-league ground that he’s been to is Accrington Stanley’s. His pet dislike is poor referees and his pet like is winning.
Away from football, Martin loves all ball games, especially cricket and golf, and could happily spend the rest of his life watching sport. He often watches Great Harwood Cricket Club and is a regular visitor to the Open and Ryder Cup golf championships.

Thanks again for today MARTIN HOWARD……………..

Superfan!
