Twenty year old Martin is in his first season at the Showground and has been an instant success, being instrumental in Harwood’s early season rise to the top of the table.
Weighing in at 12 stones and with a 6’ 2” frame, he certainly adds ‘presence’ to the midfield where he’s played for most of this term, although he’s equally at home in defence. With his ability to beat a defender and a terrific shot, he should be looking to score six to ten goals a season.
Martin was signed at the start of the season from Whinney Hill but the gap in quality between the two leagues has not been a problem for today’s all-action hero. He lives in Accrington with gorgeous mum Rose, handsome dad John, brothers John and Roger and sister Louise who obviously gets her great looks from her mum.
Favourite ‘other’ team in Blackburn Rovers and his favourite player is the superb Robbie Savage. As with lots of players around Martin’s age, Gazza is his top former player. At the moment, Martin has never been involved with a club who have won a trophy so let’s hope that the Robins can put that right soon.
Outside of football he likes to play golf and enjoys socialising (that’s boozing to you and me) and likes Italian food and holidays. Dislikes are losing at football and going to work. He hasn’t got a particular favourite ground, apart from the Showground of course, but he enjoys playing anywhere as long as it’s not Memorial Park when he has to pay!
Martin is just one of a whole host of fine young players at the club, and if we can keep the nucleus of the side together then the future looks bright.
