Today’s hero is our very own Captain Fantastic, Neil Kennedy, who, if you sliced him in two, would have Great Harwood Town running through him like a stick of Blackpool rock!
Neil lives just a stones throw way from the Showground with his lovely wife Julie and their equally lovely daughter Neive. Despite getting on a bit, he’s now 30, he’s fitter than he’s ever been, and hopes to be captaining the team for many years to come-an honour which he lists amongst the highlights of his career. The other thing which Neil remembers as the pinnacle of a 13 year association with semi-pro football is the never to be forgotten 3-2 win at Morecambe in the A.T.S. Trophy, Christie Park also being the best ground that he has played on.
Previous clubs are Bamber Bridge and Clitheroe although he will always be associated with the Robins. He’s been here that long that he’s not sure exactly how many seasons that he’s spent at the club, he thinks it’s about eight. His position is primarily midfield but he has also played many games for the Robins in defence.
Neil works as an I.T. manager so he could probably give me a few tips on putting the programme together, and in his spare time he likes to play golf. As well as being a tremendous footballer he’s also one of the best looking players in the League and came a close second to Roger Moore when a new James Bond was needed.
Carry on with the good work Neil and long may you be connected with Great Harwood Town F.C.
